Well, everybody is talking about the UK Royal Wedding that happened today at 4 o'clock in the morning in our time here in Kentucky. It was showed live on TV until almost all day they are talking about it. The big wedding of the year! If you didn't hear about it then will check it on google if I can share more to you about the wonderful wedding that they are talking about.
On Friday, 29 April 2011, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge married Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey, London at 11:00 am BST (UTC+1). William, who is second in the line of succession to Queen Elizabeth II, first met Middleton in 2001, while both were students at the University of St Andrews. Their engagement, which began on 20 October 2010, was announced on 16 November 2010.

The build up to the wedding and the occasion itself attracted much media attention, with the service broadcast live around the world, and with it being compared and contrasted in many ways to the last high profile British royal wedding in the United Kingdom, the 1981 marriage of William's parents, Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. It was watched by a global television audience of over 2 billion.[1][2] Much of the attention focused on Middleton's status as a commoner (i.e. not of royal blood or a part of the aristocracy) and such marrying into royalty. Hours before the service, William was granted the titles of the Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn, and Baron Carrickfergus by the Queen. Upon her marriage, Middleton therefore became Her Royal Highness Princess William Arthur Philip Louis, Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn, Baroness Carrickfergus, but is not styled as 'Princess Catherine'.

First of all, I am hoping everyone is having a blessed and peaceful Good Friday. As for my day was long too but still a blessed day with my husband. Today is my first visit to the doctor’s clinic for my pregnancy. As first visit goes I filled out information sheets and had counseling with the nurse today about my pregnancy. I was asked for a urine sample, she said they would do that every now and then visit to test for some infections. I also did some blood test for HIV and other stuff including iron test and it turns our good for that. And she made my second appointment on May 2 and she said at this time I will meet my doctor and will undergo series of test about my pregnancy. When we got home I am surprised to received a big box of Filipino foods that I ordered online the other day. I was so excited while my husband was opening it! I got different kind of food that I crave and miss! My day was long but I enjoyed it! I hope everyone to have a great Lenten season and a great Easter Sunday in advance.

Palm Sunday

Here in the State we started our day by going to church today and church server gave each of us a stick of palm. The priest blessed it with holy water before the mass starts. In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday is marked by the distribution of palm leaves (often tied into crosses) to the assembled worshipers. The difficulty of procuring palms for that day's ceremonies in unfavorable climates for palms led to the substitution of boughs of box, yew, willow or other native trees. The Sunday was often designated by the names of these trees, as Yew Sunday or by the general term Branch Sunday.

Back in the In the Philippines, there are some places where a re-enactment of Jesus' triumphal entry occurs. The Catholic priest rides a horse and is surrounded by the congregation, bearing palms. Sometimes women spread large cloths or aprons along the procession route.

Palm branches, called palaspas, are taken home after being blessed in the Mass and are hung beside, on or above doorways and windows in front of their house. Although the real objective of placing the leaves in front of houses is to welcome Jesus Christ, some Filipinos say that the palm leaves turn away evil spirits. Life Update

Wow! It’s been a long time since I haven’t check on this page! It’s over two months already and I am sorry for staying away and not updating the page. I always say to myself that I will be updating my blog but I kept forgetting it and sometimes laziness hit me too! LOL. Well, I need have a lot of news to tell you, I still doing good in my nail business and as of this month my earnings keeps getting higher that means it’s catching up. Though some week it gets so slow that I got bored waiting for someone to walk-in the shop’s door but then the next day it gets better again! And before I forgot to tell you guys, I got the great news ever! I’m more than two months pregnant now! Actually today it’s exactly my 10 weeks! This is our first baby and we are really excited! We’re hoping for a baby girl but it really doesn’t matter as long as he or she is healthy. I am still having the “morning sickness”, and it’s not easy! I got so sick in my stomach almost everyday and sometimes in the whole day. I know some mothers know how it feels. It is so hard for me when I am working because I don’t to throw up at work! Well, I am hoping it gets better next month coz I will be done my first trimester. So wish me luck and some prayers! For now I am done here and I will try hard to get part of my time to be here and keep blogging! God bless you all!

All About January

It's been a long time since i did not get a chance to update my page here. I am still in the process of building up my nail shop business. And since the first week of January it was a very slow month for me. There's not a lot of client who went to shop to get their nails fix and done. It's depressing but some of the hairdresser in the shop also have their slow days so i am thinking and they also told me that January is really slow for business. It maybe because they spent more on the past holidays, the new year and the Christmas. Some people are waiting to get their taxes paid before spending more their money. This first week of February is getting better, had more customer than the other month and still hoping will continue to be like this. Right now i don't have any so i have time to update my blogsite. I hope you are still waiting for more updates and still checking my blogpage. I really appreciate it. Thanks..

Business update

It's been two weeks now since I did not had time to open my blogsite and post new updates here. I been so busy for the past days. I just want you to all know that I am having fun with my new business now. Well, to everyone who did not read some my past post or I guess I forgot to mention that I opened a nail shop in part of one salon in our small town. Yes! I did it and I am here right now at the salon while I am writing this post. I don't have appointment this time but I am waiting for walk-in clients to come over who wants their nails done. For the past weeks I been doing good, I got clients that called for appointments and also got some walk-ins, so far i'm loving it. Just hoping that everything will get better and that I will get more appointments than what I am having right now. I know I am just new here and I need to build up my business and work for it. With the help of my husband and family and especially the Lord above, I may have a successful business. Will update you more about it soon. God bless us all.

I am at the salon right now, but I am doing nothing since I don't have any clients that have appointments for the day but I am waiting for walk-ins people to come by and don't have much luck till this time. So I check online as usual on my blogsite and facebook account. I also check on some money-making website but I did not have opportunities to post something to make money. But instead I discovered that changes of my page rank on google on my payperpost account. It was on rank 3 last night I checked it and now it is back to zero! I feel bad about it and wonder why it happened to my page. I been posting good awhile now and I think I am getting better on it. I hope that my page rank will go back to what it was and I can get more opportunity again from payperpost or inpostlinks.

Winter for me!

The weather today was not so bad. The sunshines this morning and it’s quite warm for the time of the year, but is still cold for me who don’t used to this winter temperature. I also miss the Philippines every time I feel the cold weather in this side of the world. I remember how I complained back in my country on how hot the weather is, I usually bring umbrella when it is almost 12 noon in the day because the sun’s heat hurts my skin. But when I get her I miss the HEAT of the sun on my skin when I was back in Philippines. How I wish the weather were the same here in states. When the sun is out and the weather is warm, it is like you energy is high too and you like to do everything, but when it is cold I feel like I am always tired and wants to also be in bed and take a nap. Back then I usually go with my cousins and friends near the creek at home and do some walking or we do camping with them using our favorite camping gear. It’s so much fun when you like the weather.

I’m home all alone again while watching movies on HD this Saturday night. My husband is playing music out of town tonight and I don’t have the guts to go with him in this very cold night (for him it is not cold yet). So yesterday was the day after Thanksgiving which they called it here a Black Friday. I heard that “Black Friday” online specifically on facebook. Someone mention that she is ready to go shopping on a Black Friday. Well, wondering what it is, I asked my husband about it and he said it is the Friday after Thanksgiving day and it day that stores will have big discounts. So will check what wikipedia will tell us about this Black Friday:

It’s almost one o’clock in the morning on Thursday, it is just means that officially Thanksgiving Day is started! So I want to greet you all again a Happy Thanksgiving. Maybe you wonder why I am still online and writing this blog post. We’ll my husband and I don’t usually sleep till like midnight but we usually just laying down in bed while waiting for our eyes to close to sleep. But tonight, I am still awake since I am waiting for my husband to get home from playing music at the near bar in town. Their band plays music for the Thanksgiving Eve and he surely done playing this time but they need to teardown their music equipments and load it up to their van so they can get home. I usually go with them but tonight I did not have the power to go outside. Yeah I say “power”, coz I think I need power to be in the cold weather. It is just the coldest night we been had since we got back from the hot weather in the Philippines. It’s not new to me since I been here the last year’s winter but I think I’m body is still adjusting the cold for the winter! I’m here inside the house and I can still feel the cold from the outside even our heater is on. When I looked outside it’s so foggy too but I just discovered something that our window needs a new shutters and on Black Friday might be the best time to get discount for these things.

Do you know what the people in United State of America going to celebrate this week? Well, if you are here in the State right now or you know someone from the here, I know you know what is the big celebration about. Yeah! It is Thanksgiving Day on Thursday. I had been asking about it to my husband. He told me it started when the settlers first get together. And then I also asked a new friend about that Thanksgiving and she said it is when the Indians meet with the people from England. But before I thought it is all about when the snow weather start and the celebration. Well, so I will try wikipedia and search will see what it says.

Small Business

Since I started my small nail business in the town, I think a lot of things to do so people will know about it. I will make my own business card, posters that my husband posted in every part of the town and in the neighboring area. And as I mentioned that I posted it on facebook and has it’s own page for everyone to like and have can have track about the nail shop. I am also thinking to build a new website for the business, if I can find a cheap web host or even a free one just for the starting business. I know there’s hosting site that I can find just for now as the building process of the business. I also want to make my own business logo for the sake of promoting easily to everybody. As I observed when you have your own logo it is much more easier for everyone to recognize your products or the services you offered. As for example for me, I am doing nail shop business, if someone will see a logo of nails or a pedicure picture then they will surely know it is all about nails or about beauty service. I look online for logo and I found Logo Design Packages that are designed by professionals. I’m thinking of getting one as part of the business building up process.

Today, November 22, 2010 I started my small business in our little town in Augusta, Kentucky. As I mentioned on my past post that I plan to get a space in a salon for a nail business. I officially opened it today and did my first client. She wanted a manicure and a spa pedicure, which I think I did good. She was so nice to me and I get pleased to do my job right. I am on appointment basis, so anyone who needs their nails to be done should call or text my phone to set time for it. Sometimes I will do walk-in clients but I prefer to those making appointments. I will be making my own gift certificate that everyone likes to have as present for the coming holidays. I hope all will work well for my small business and me. Wish me luck! Sleeping Problem

I am right here and still awake! It’s now 6:02AM, thanks to my PC clock because our wall clock is not working and I need to get one from hermle clocks for a change to a better one. I am still online and waiting for my eyes to get tired so I can go back to sleep. So I checked wikipedia about sleeping problem, though I know it is because of the 13 hours difference from our Philippine vacation but still I am anxious to know about it! I end up reading about “Sleep apnea”. It is a sleep disorder characterized by abnormal pauses in breathing or instances of abnormally low breathing, during sleep. Each pause in breathing, called an apnea, can last from a few seconds to minutes, and may occur 5 to 30 times or more an hour. Similarly, each abnormally low breathing event is called a hypopnea. Sleep apnea is diagnosed with an overnight sleep test called a polysomnogram, or "sleep study".

There are three forms of sleep apnea: central (CSA), obstructive (OSA), and complex or mixed sleep apnea. Regardless of type, an individual with sleep apnea is rarely aware of having difficulty breathing, even upon awakening. Sleep apnea is recognized as a problem by others witnessing the individual during episodes or is suspected because of its effects on the body (sequelae). Symptoms may be present for years (or even decades) without identification, during which time the sufferer may become conditioned to the daytime sleepiness and fatigue associated with significant levels of sleep disturbance.

For sure this is not our case since we can’t sleep, while apnea is problem while you are sleeping!

It’s been a hard time for to adjust our sleeping hours. Since Wednesday we did not sleep all throughout the night. I know it’s because we just got back from the Philippines and had the 13 hours difference in our clock here in Kentucky. Well we been up since 3:30 AM and is online for almost 2 hours now! My husband was online at our other computer in the other room too but he is now trying to go back to sleep at the couch here in our living room while I am still here doing my blogging. I got lucky too because I did posted some post to earn money! I’m sure all of you know which site I am talking about and I don’t want to mention it here. Back in Kentucky

We are back from the Philippines, arrived yesterday afternoon after very long flights. Well, I got comment from my last post regarding the third picture of Church in Simala that I posted. He was surprised with the picture saying that he doesn’t know that there is a place like that in Philippines. I have a lot of pictures from that Church and I will post here some more. Update from Philippines

My husband and I are still here in the Philippines. We have been enjoying our vacation with my family and friends. I went to the cemetery with my family to visit our departed relatives and loved ones in the observance of the all souls day. We also went swimming at the beach here in Iligan city in our first week in the country. And then I and my husband with my sister decided to went to Cebu City to visit my cousin and also to see the Miraculous Mama Mary at one of the province in Cebu City. It was the third time that I visited the church, on my last visits that church was not fully built yet but now it is almost done and it’s a huge church! We say prayers and petitions then went to my cousin’s house and stayed there for 2 days. We also went to beach while we were in Cebu City, you can tell it with my skin because it’s getting darker from all the beach swimming we had. Then we went to mall when we went back to the City proper and had a little shopping with my sister while my husband was watching movie at a movie house inside the mall. Well, today we just got back from Cebu City! Will write more updates here soon and pictures to share to you.

I been busy for the past days, I am trying to make my own business card as a license nail tech. I will be renting at a space in one of the salon here in our town and do nails when I get back from my Philippine vacation. Yeah! Will visit the Philippines, my husband and me will leave for Iligan City tomorrow-early morning. I been packing all things that we need since last night, aside from the pasalubong (present to families and friends) coz I already ready it since last week. I am excited to see my family and friends back in Philippines, I been here in state for more than 10 months now. I know it’s not been so long since I leave the Philippines but still I miss them all and I miss the foods too! I might still be checking on here for sometimes so you can have updates on me. I will surely post some pictures from the Philippines.

Nail Tech License

Hey friends! I am having a great big smile right now while writing this post. You want to know why? Well, we just got home from Frankfort, Kentucky specifically at the Kentucky Board of Hairdresser and Cosmetologist. I took my state board exam for my professional license as a nail tech. And you surely know now why I am smiling big it’s because I got it! I got the license that I been waiting to have for more than 2 months now since I got out from the beauty school. We went to Frankfort last Sunday and check-in at a hotel there since my examination schedule is early 8 o’clock in the morning the next day. We decided to drive there a day before because live more than 2 hours drive away. Today was a very long day for me. My husband and I got up like 6:30 in the morning and get ready. When we got at the State board place, I went inside while my husband waiting me inside our car at the parking area. They called all the examiners for a nail tech practical exam that scheduled 8am to signed in and then I waited for like 5 minutes and then they called us again to go to a room where we did our practical test. It took us 1 hour and 30 minutes to get done. After the practical we waited and waited until we got tired of waiting and ask on why it took us so long to wait while the other batch who were behind us are already gone. Then we decided to ask some people who are working there and then they just told us to wait for a minute and they will get back to us. Until they told us that our batch list was misplaced and they just found it, which was so frustrating because it’s like we are the only people there waiting and everybody are gone. We waited for 6 hours in the waiting room with no food because we are afraid that they call us to take the written test and we are not available. At last around 3:30 in the afternoon they finally called us for the written test. After an hour we found out the result and I passed it and brought home my license!

Online TV

My husband and I been thinking about degrading our cable TV channels. It is a very good idea so we can save some money that we been paying for extra channels that we really don’t need. We have a lot of channels that is really not important and we never watch. As I am always online and writing my blog page for new post every day, I really don’t have much time to pay attention what ever is on. Well, my husband love watching TV shows as he says he can’t live without it! Between online and watching TV, I prefer to be in the Internet world. When I am online, I can watch TV shows and do a blog post or update my facebook and chat my friends. There is a lot of available Online TV that we can watch online. It is the same fun as the regular one. I can say it is much easier to watch shows online since you can bring your computer or laptops anywhere as long as you have the Internet access. Unlike the regular TV that you should just stay in your room and watch it! We already fixed our decision and will be watching channels that we don’t have on regular cable.

wrestling lovers

I am writing this while I'm thinking my husband because he is not around yet. He went our with his band members to play music in the nearest town. Well, he is a big fan of wrestling! Even you can tell it if you will visit his blog page titled only my opinion. To tell you the truth and not only you will know it but also my husband knows that i don't like watching wrestling. I just don't like it! Well he is not the only one that loves to watch wrestling, i guess all his friends and also his little nephew, who just celebrated his birthday the last day. And because the nephew also loves wrestling, all his birthday gift was something related to the wrestling world. I am sharing you his pictures here. Different Nail Types

As I am reviewing all my notes from studying nail tech school, I had written about different nail types, it's characteristics and possible treatment. Here are some examples of it: Healthy Nails will have a pink appearance, are flexible, rarely break, are smooth, and have no visible signs of splitting, peeling, or breakage. It is recommended treatment is to apply strengtheners and conditioners to help balance what is needed to keep nails healthy, flexible and breakage- free. There are also dry, brittle nail that can show ridging, flaking at the free edge, as well as dry white spots that can be similar to dandruff. They also have tendency to break in the quick causing painful breaks. The recommended home care would also adding more nails conditioners and strengtheners. Nails are part of your hands and is very important to our body, it serves as protection for us. Let's take good care of it.

Building a Business

I been very busy for the past days reviewing all the topics that we had discussed on my nail tech course. It is because I got my state board exam scheduled this Monday, October 18, 2010. Yes, I will take the state board exam for my nail tech professional license. After I will get my license I plan to rent a booth in the nearest salon in town. We went to check the place the other day and the space looks good for me. I am now very excited to start my own little business. I wish all will went well and I will get my license right away. I been searching online for some products that I can buy in a lesser price and use it for my nail shop. Like the polishes, acrylics and some other nail stuff and equipments that I still need to purchase. As part of building new business I know I need to research everything to learn more. Building a business is not easy especially for a new resident in this place like me. I have some friends that I know but not really that much to help me build a great clientele. And part of my preparation for the business I am looking for website where I can make customized business cards. I found one and it works great for me.

When i got up this morning, my husband told me to check on the kitchen table. He surprised me with a bouquet of flowers with chocolates. I asked him what's this for? He said it is for Sweetest Day and i asked him what is sweetest day, he said it is like valentine's day. I don't know about sweetest day because we don't celebrate that in Philippines. Well, i searched the meaning on wiki and this is what it says : Sweetest Day is an observance celebrated primarily in the Great Lakes region, and parts of the Northeast United States on the third Saturday in October. Once known as a day to spread love and cheer to the unfortunate, this popular holiday in the northern U.S. is now known as a day to show affection to the ones in your life whom you like. My husband plays music usually every weekend. He is the bass guitar player in their band named Inside Out. I usually go with him every time he plays at a bar, a town fair or any other event that they are booked. Last Saturday night, I went with them when they play at a bar in Erlanger, Kentucky. It is more than an hour drive from town of Augusta, where we live. Well, aside from how long it takes us to get there and how late we got home from that bar. I also notice the sign on the bar door that says, “person under 21may not enter or remain on premises”. It’s not this bar that I see these sign posted but in every bar that I went to with my husband. I wonder the difference of legal drinking age between the United States and the Philippines. As I have read online, the legal drinking age refers to the earliest age that an individual is legally allowed to buy alcoholic beverages. This is often different from the age at which they may be permitted to drink alcohol. There can also be many exceptions or complications to the general law; in some countries the drinking age differs between public and private, or within bars and without. As what I observed that many bars in Philippines allowed a person even though they are less than 21 years of age. As what I researched that it is legal for a Filipino to buy alcoholic drink at the age of 16 and to go to bars at 18. So there’s a big difference here in State. But I noticed that bars in Philippines are not so strict as the bars here in States. Like one time that I went with my husband and one employee at the bar asked my age if I am less than 21. Maybe I look younger, but I told her that I am 27 and she asked me an identification but I did not carry any to show to her so she told me that I can’t order any alcoholic beverage since I didn’t prove that I am 21. That was funny but I don’t drink alcohol so it’s fine with me. But it does shows how strict they are about the legal drinking age.

State Board Exam Preparation

As what i wrote in my last post about my incoming state board exam, we did some shopping today for the supplies that i will need at the nearest sally's beauty supply in town. I say we spent more than we usually spend each week for shopping but it is all worth it because some of the supplies that we bought are also re-usable. I can use those supplies in my future job as nail professional when i get my license that i been waiting for a while. The stuff the we got includes my lab coat which is a little bit bigger for me but they only have one size for that so i don't have any chance to get the right fit for me. Well, this is one of the many requirements that the state board sent to me in mail that i need to purchase and follow, so i don't have any choice at all. I also got a disinfection container which i think is a very big points for me as the state board people will usually focus on how you disinfect your implement and i need this thing to do that! I did not forget to buy two fake hands that i need to use as my model. And there's many more things and supplies that we bought for the state board prepation. Now i need to double my time to study for the written test and practice for the practical exam...Whew...some pressure coming... see you around.

Nail Technician's State board Exam

I just got here in state last December 2009 which was my first winter and snow experience. It was really cold for me that i don't like to go outside aside from the time that i want to experience playing on the snow and make my own snowman. Well, after 2 months of staying at home, i decided to go to a beauty school and take a nail tech course. Nail technician is literally someone who does something technical concerning finger/toe nails and is an exaggerated description of someone who would normally be called a manicurist. But i learned more than a manicure and pedicure, we also study on some nail enhancement like putting on fake nails and nail designs. Unlike in the Philippines that whoever know how to do manicure or pedicure can work and practice their skills, here in State they need you to take a 600 hours class and take a state board exam for nail tech license. I did finished my 600 hours study last July 2010 and then i sent my application for the state board exam to the Kentucky State Board of Kentucky State Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists, it's where i should it the test. Yesterday i got their mail and schedule for my exam and it will be on the 18th! So wish me luck

Lechon Manok

Since i got here in Kentucky i tried my best to learn how to cook, especially Filipino foods. It is not really so easy to cook the same recipe as in the Philippines because I can't find all the ingredients that we use in our country. But eventhough I can't always complete the recipe ingredients i still end up with the Filipino taste. The lechon manok or roasted chicken is one of the recipe that i just tried the other month and my husband loves it. Lechon Manok is very popular in Philippines. When there is celebration in the family like birthday party, fiesta or family get-together, lechon manok is always present on the table. Saturday for Grocery

Me and my husband just got home from our grocery shopping at Walmart. It's part of our weekly things to go for shopping every saturday. The first part of our shopping mostly is at the meat section as we love to eat meat! But not all of meat that i wanted to buy can be found, so sometimes i will just experiment my cooking. Last month, we went to jungle jim international market to shop for Philippine foods and yes i did found some good meat and other delicacies. And i end up cooking a roasted pig using oven and it was really good though not as good as the Philippine lechon but it has have the similar taste. Here is the photo i took after the cooking.

MIss Universe 2010

Miss Universe 2010, the 59th edition of the pageant, was held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S. last night August 23, 2010. It was hosted by Bret Michaels and Natalie Morales, Jimena Navarrete, Miss Mexico, was crowned Miss Universe 2010 by outgoing titlehoder Stefanía Fernández from Venezuela. On the other hand, Miss Philippines 2010, Maria Venus Raj, made it to be in the 4th runner-up place which I am proud of.

Miss Venus who seemed to be a crowd favorite, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, answered a question from actor/judge William Baldwin that didn't seem to really be an answer. Although it wasn't controversial, Miss Philippines 2010 left many wondering about her answer, her 22 years of mistake-less existence, and why she kept thanking everybody.

The interview segment of the Miss Universe pageant can be a points killer, as Carrie Prejean and Morgan Elizabeth Woolard can attest. But with William Baldwin's question, it seemed as if Miss Philippines 2010 was going to coast through and perhaps secure the Miss Universe crown. The crowd loved her and she was the talk of the Internet going into the final round of competition Monday. But what seems like a simple question can sometimes trip a person up.

When I woke up Monday morning, August 23, and as usual check my facebook account to know what’s new. The first thing I got into was the hostage taking in Manila.

So I checked online news for the details and courtesy of the online news from msn this is what I read:

A 12-hour hostage drama aboard a hijacked Philippine bus ended in bloodshed Monday when an angry ex-policeman demanding his job back gunned down eight Hong Kong tourists before police stormed the vehicle and a sniper killed him.

At least seven captives survived, four of whom were seen crawling out the back door of the bus after Philippine police stormed it Monday evening when the hostage-taker started shooting at the 15 Chinese tourists inside, said police Senior Superintendent Nelson Yabut.
He said the hostage-taker was killed with a sniper shot to the head after he wounded a police sharpshooter.

Police and ambulances were lined up next to the vehicle in the pouring rain after the standoff ended. Local hospitals reported seven bodies of hostages were brought in. One other hostage was hospitalized in critical condition, and five others were unharmed.

Two of the surviving hostages were wounded in serious condition and the remaining five are under observation, Hong Kong leader Donald Tsang told reporters in the Chinese territory as he expressed shock and anger at the police response.

The bloodshed rattled the Philippines and raised questions about police ability to deal with hostage-takings.

"How can I be satisfied when there were people who died?" Philippine President Benigno Aquino III told reporters late Monday. But he said the situation deteriorated rapidly from the time the hostage-taker initially showed willingness to release his hostages.

Philippine beliefs and superstition have grown in number throughout the various regions and provinces in the country. These beliefs have come from the different saying and superstitions of our ancestors that aim to prevent danger from happening or to make a person refrain from doing something in particular. These beliefs are part of our culture, for one derives their beliefs from the influences of what their customs, traditions and culture have dictated to explain certain phenomena or to put a scare in people. Some are practiced primarily because Filipinos believe that there is nothing to lose if they will comply with these beliefs. The following are some of the different superstitions in the Philippines:

Growing up, many children are told that it is just as important to learn not to prop their chins on their hands as to learn proper table manners. Supposedly, this is akin to awaiting bad luck. Singing while you are cooking means that you will end up widowed.

Changing places at the table while eating means that you will change husbands, or divorce and marry a number of times. Other superstitions include:

•If you open an umbrella indoors, a centipede will fall down from the ceiling.

•Accidentally dropping your fork on the floor might mean that a male visitor will come by.

•After a Baptism, the parents and the newly christened child should rush out of the church ahead of the others.

Some of these superstitions also cross over into other cultures. The tradition of wearing polka dots and filling up your pockets with coins during the New Year seems related to Chinese superstition. In both Filipino and Peruvian culture, dumping your purse on the floor can mean that you will go poor. This may have something to do with the Spanish influence on both countries.

Since i got here in the State, me and my husband always go to see a movie almost every weekend. Last saturday we watched the movie " Bounty Hunter".

Easter Sunday

Last sunday was my first Easter Sunday here in the State with my loving husband and family. We had so much fun though i miss the Philippines and my family back there. I been busy for the past months so i haven't posted anything new in here. Though sometimes i have free time to put updates here but i just don't feel like writing. Well, I been going to a beauty school here in Kentucky for a nail tech course. Yeah! It's for nails.. While i get into this school, i observed the differences of how they practice here in State and in the Philippines for the nail tech study. Here in State, i need to go for about more than a month of study and know everything about nails, their parts, diseases, and how to be safe when doing clients. After your study, you need to take the board state exam to get your license to be a Nail Professional or a Nail Pro. In the Philippines, it won't take that long to study these kind of nail stuff. As long as you know how then you can go on apply in any salon to do nails! Well, I prefer the way here because it's seems the very right way to do. And i feel like i really going to be a Professional! I started to gather and buy some of my manicure and pedicure kits and many other stuff practice. I got some polishes and different kind of brushes online. There are many online website to check like ebay, funbrain, craiglist and more. You can find cheaper and good things out there for you..

I miss Philippines

I been more than a month here in State to live with my husband. And I already missing the Philippines not only my family back home but also the weather. It is too cold for me here and i just like staying at home to feel a little warm. I also miss some of the foods i usually like to eat, especially when my father cook vegetables! But eventhough i misses a lot of stuff from Philippines, I love being with my husband. Next week I will be starting my study in a nail tech so i am excited and curious to do something else other than staying at home. I hope i will do well with all this and wish me luck!

It's been a long time since i haven't write update in this page. I am now trying to catch up all the topics that i should be writing here. Well, I am here in the state now with my loving husband. It was a long wait for us to be together as husband and wife after our wedding day, as we were far apart from each other. But i am thankful that the visa processing went well for me and i should say i got it easier than those who been waiting to get their visas. I also got my Social Security Number and my Green Card in two weeks after i arrived here in Kentucky. I am still adjusting the cold weather here since it's winter when i got here in state, the very first thing i should adjust is the weather! Soon i plan to go to a beauty school and will be going to visit the school this week. I will write more here and will keep you updated.

Hello to all my friends here and to all my visitors in my page. It’s been a long time since that I haven’t updated this Blog site because I have been so busy processing my visa for the United States. Well, I have finished it and I am here with my husband now in my new home in Kentucky, USA.

Before I left home, my husband sent business capital for my mother to use in a fruit wholesale and retailing business. In the Philippines, when Christmas season and New Year is coming, fruit is one of the best businesses; you don’t need a business advertising company to sell it fast. Medical test for Visa

Hi to all my co-bloggers and visitors in this site. I want to share you good news that made me and my husband so happy! As you I have posted here before we were applying for a cr1 visa – immigrant visa. As process is almost finish, I as the benefiary needs to undergo a medical exam at St. Luke’s extension clinic (SLEC) before the interview at the US Embassy in Manila. I went to Manila last October 21, departed Lumbia Airport at Cagayan de Oro city at 7:10AM and arrived NAIA at around 8:35AM. From the airport I decided to go directly to SLEC so I can start the medical tests right away. For the first day from 9AM till 3PM I am done with my medical examination and took my first meal of the day after. The second day made me so nervous because I am not confident enough that I will pass the medical exam because I am experiencing coughs every morning just before medical. But I know that my cough is just due to my allergy so I and my husband are hopeful that I will pass. Well, we were right! I passed the medical exam with faith and prayers to God.

The two typhoons that hit the Philippines widespread flooding and landslides that caused a lot of damaged to almost all part of Luzon. It's sad to know that there were some died and most of them drowning after being swept away by floodwaters. The storm also caused heavy rains in other part of the country. Power, phone lines and internet links were down across the north, making it difficult to get reports about the extent of damage. Typhoons in the Philippines describes the most notable tropical cyclones to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility and affect the Philippines. We need to be careful and be ready of this kind of calamity. Many families are now waiting for donations for them to start again. Let us pray for them!

Iligan City in Bid for Guinness Record

A school in Iligan City, Philippines is gunning to be a part of the renowned Guinness Book of World Records! Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) here in Mindanao attempt the " Most Number of People Singing the National Anthem Simultaneously" yesterday, September 1, 2009. The event started around 9AM and was held at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium, Iligan City. The goal of the attempt is to promote peace and unity in Mindanao, organizers said. The event is spearheaded by different MSU-IIT organizations, Rotary Clubs of Iligan City, and Pioneer Insurance.

Israel currently holds the title, with 264 people singing that country's national anthem simultaneously on May 7, 2008.

Let’s hope that MSU-IIT Iligan City garners all the support and that they become successful in their quest. Good luck to all Iliganons!

I watched the coverage of the Miss Universe Pageant on ABS - CBN live via satellite. The contenders were all sexy and beautiful (they should be.. lol). Though the representative of the Philippines, Pamela Bianca Manalo did not win the crown but still she showed how beautiful are the Filipino ladies. The 58th Miss Universe pageant was held at the Atlantis Paradise Island, in Nassau, Bahamas. It made history when an outgoing queen crowned her successor from the same country, Stefanía Fernández, Miss Venezuela, was crowned Miss Universe 2009 by outgoing titleholder Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela. My congratulations to her!

The whole Philippines commemorate the death anniversary of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" S. Aquino, Jr. last Friday, August 21, 2009. It was a national non-working holiday in the Philippines observed annually for commemorating of the 1983 assassination of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr. He was the husband of Corazon Aquino, who was later to become Philippine President; they are treated as two of the heroes of democracy in the country. His assassination led to the downfall of Ferdinand Marcos on February 25, 1986, through the People Power Revolution. In 2004, the commemoration ceremony for the holiday was held and events were attended by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Fidel V. Ramos.

Civil society groups staged a tribute to him at Makati's financial district, site of the many protest marches in the 70s and 80s against the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.

Philippines President : 1 Million Peso Dinner

The most controversial news today is about GMA's trip to the United States. Apparently there are reports that she spent $20,000 (or 955,400 Philippine Pesos) on dinner at an exclusive restaurant in New York. According to what I've heard from the news they bought expensive wines, caviar etc. and the serving was for 25 people. The Malacanang denies the said issue though and Press Secretary Cerge Remonde adds that the dinner was FREE, paid by Rep. Martin Romualdez, which I doubt is true. Colleagues of Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez in the House of Representatives have asked him to confirm if he really paid for the dinner of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her entourage on August 2 in the posh Le Cirque restaurant in New York City and to tell the public how much he spent for it. Romualdez has yet to reply to text messages or calls since the controversy was raised over the weekend. Didn't they realize when common Filipinos hear this the first thing that come in their mind was thousands of hungry, poor Filipinos could have been fed for a month, so why didn't GMA demanded that the big spender dumped his money on those poor people instead, while they can dine on more appropriate place? And to think that there are millions of Filipino families who can barely afford a nutritious meal.

I watched wowowee show on ABS-CBN last saturday and noticed that their host Willie Revillame was not in the show. I thought he is on rest again because of his health problem but I was wrong. Just discovered that he is suspended on his noontime show because of what happened last Monday on the show. His “objectionable" way of removing the live video of former President Corazon Aquino’s cortege violated the broadcast code of ethics, an official of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) said.

"NO TO WILLIE " A petition to oust Wowowee's Willie Revillame is spreading like wildfire on the internet.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am an avid viewer of ABS CBN and I am very well up-to-date regarding their shows. Without any doubt, I am a Kapamilya. However, last August 03, 2009, an incident happened when Wowowee Host Willie Revillame blurted out comments when a video of Pres. Cory's cortege appeared on the screen.

While a contestant was dancing for the talent portion, a snippet of Pres. Cory Aquino's cortege was shown on the screen. But Willie did not cut short the dancing portion. Instead, he let the contestant finish her routine. After that, he blurted out comments regarding the video of Pre. Cory's cortege. He said:

"Kung ganyan, pakita na lang natin 'yan. Kasi nagsasaya kami dito, tapos... Masakit sa akin 'yan, e. Nagsasalita ako dito... 'yan, please. Sana maintindihan n'yo. Nagsasaya kami dito, papakita n'yo sa amin yun ang... di ba? Hindi tama, e. Okey? Hindi ba?"

"Pangit! Hindi ho maganda sa atin. Nagsasalita, ipinapakita yung kabaong ni Tita Cory, hindi ba? Papano kami makapagsasaya, nahihirapan kami? I'm sorry ho, ha. Pero ako, totoo ako, e. 'Wag n'yo akong pagagalitan, kasi totoo ang gusto kong malaman...

"Pagkatapos ng show, ipakita n'yo ang gusto n'yong palabas. Kasi itong Wowowee, gusto ko... Hindi ba, at alam din ni Tita Cory 'yan dahil napasaya rin siya ng show na ito na laging masaya dito, ok?"

Some may argue that Willie's intention was good, but I rather find these statements rude and arrogant. Wowowee and Revillame is known by millions of Filipino viewers and the show is even watched across several countries through TFC. To react in such way is downright arrogant and disrespectful to the former President Corzaon Aquino. I know that it was a bad taste for ABS-CBN to show a snippet of the funeral on Wowowee, but it was worst for Revillame to react that way.

Willie have chosen to let the contestant dance instead of cutting short her act and give way to the coverage of the cortege. Willie have chosen to blurt out his rude comments ON-AIR instead of Off-cam. In short, Willie have chosen to have fun instead of giving way to the funeral of Pres. Corazon Aquino. So they'd rather have fun instead of pay our respects to our democracy icon? That was not a good example to our youth today.

Was it really hard for him to be humble and human? I believe that this is not the first time that he aired his views and rather arrogant comments On-air. He embarasses his staff, makes fun of the contestants, and arrogantly act on TV almost everyday. Pres. Aquino taught us humility, and Revillame is showing us the exact opposite: arrogance.

This time, Willie's statement should be condemed not only by the public, but by the management of ABS-CBN as well. It also creates a public outrage in the internet forums, chatting boards, and online-newspapers. Majority have negative reactions and have condemned Willie Revillame's brutal statements.

With this, I am calling the attention of the management of ABS-CBN to stop the â€œarrogant actâ€ of Willie Revillame on National TV program and reprimand him because of his actions. Willie Revillame had been very disrespectful to the Pres. Cory Aquino's cortege, Filipinos icon of democracy. It was also worst for your company that your own employee criticize you on national television instead on off the air conversations.

I am calling the attention of the MTRCB to be more vigilant, so that this lowest form of personal attack by a tv showbiz talk show host, for her/his personal agenda, will not happen again.

I am calling the PANA to stop supporting Wowowee until they axe or reprimand Willie Revillame due to his actions. With him as one of the hosts, your product does not project a positive image to the public.

The public and TFC subscribers deserve better programming, and we deserve better than the likes of Willie Revillame.

Farewell President Corazon Aquino

Just finished watching the live coverage of late Former Philippine President Corazon Aquino's funeral. Eventhough the weather is not good in Manila today because of rain, it didn't stop the thousands of people who attended the funeral. This only proves how she is love by the Filipino people. Rain failed to dampen the spirits of thousands of Filipinos who, after the public viewing at the remains of Aquino was closed, decided to stay and lined up outside the Cathedral, wishing that they can see the beloved president of the Philippines. The funeral convoy started to move out at around 11:26 a.m. By then people, most of them wearing yellow shirts or ribbons, or holding yellow balloons lined three deep on Roxas Boulevard.

President Gloria Arroyo declared today a national holiday for the funeral. Arroyo paid her respects to Aquino at the cathedral shortly before the funeral Mass and after arriving home from a shortened trip to the U.S. She didn’t stay for the service, attending a Mass at the presidential palace instead.

Aquino had called for Arroyo’s resignation or removal since 2005 for alleged vote-rigging and corruption.

Students, employees, professionals and even members of various organizations clad in yellow clothes, yellow rain clothes and yellow hats and caps crammed the boulevard waving yellow flags, streamers and banners with words showing love and gratitude to the late president as early before dawn.

I want to thank late President Aquino for being a good leader to our country and for taking back the democrary for the Filipino people. May your soul rest in peace.

The former Philippines President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino has passed away. My condolences to the her family and friends. She died today, Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the age of 76. Her son Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III confirmed that she died of cardio-respiratory arrest at exactly 3:18 a.m. at the Makati Medical Center.

Maria Corazon "Cory" Cojuangco Aquino (January 25, 1933 – August 1, 2009) was a President of the Philippines and a world-renowned advocate of democracy, peace, women's empowerment, and religious piety. She served as the 11th president of the Philippines from 1986 to 1992. She was the first female president of the Philippines and was Asia's first female president.

Aquino was diagnosed with the disease in March 2008 but kept up public appearances this year. A devout Catholic, she was a regular at weekend mass until shortly before being admitted to hospital in late June. Aquino was the first female president of the Republic of the Philippines to die up to date.

All Roman Catholic dioceses had started requiem masses for Aquino, after they held "healing masses". Meanwhile, the government declared a week of mourning for her death.

June 27, 2009 was the last SONA of the Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo at 4:00 P.M. at the Batasan Pambansa Complex in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. Many said that was the the last SONA of her being the president of the Philippines but we're really not sure if she will not run for same position this May 2010 election. To those who are not familiar what is a SONA? Here is a clipped i got from wiki.com. The State of the Nation Address (SONA) is an annual event in the Republic of the Philippines, in which the President of the Philippines reports on the status of the nation, normally to the resumption of a joint session of the Congress (the House of Representatives and the Senate).

The concept of a speech being delivered to Congress by a sitting Philippine head of state was conceived on March 22, 1897, when Andres Bonifacio delivered what is now known as the "State of the Katipunan" Address (SOKA) in front of the delegates of the Tejeros Convention. In his SOKA, Bonifacio outlined the achievements of the Katipunan from the time of its founding until August 29, 1896, when the Philippine Revolution began, as well as his planned programs should the Philippine Revolution be successful. I got home from my trip in Cebu City last week. I want to apologize that i posted so late in here for updates because I was been busy when i got home. A day after i arrived i went to Cagayan de Oro City to applied for a new passport to change my status. Well, back to Cebu City, when i got there i directly went to the St. Mary Euphrasia Center. It's where the counselling and seminar for Commission Filipino Overseas was held. It took me whole day for the said seminar. After the seminar my cousin met me at Ayala Mall and we took a ride going to their house where i stayed for 4 days. I had so much fun there with my cousin and her kids. We had time to go to Simala (i mentioned it in my last post). And yes! was a far place but it's worth the trip. You can really feel how holy is the area. It is not new in the Philippines to hear bombings as terrorist attack. But just today, two bombs have exploded in Mindanao, killing two people and wounding 27 in one town and 11 in another. A crude bomb hidden in a motorcycle exploded early Tuesday morning in Jolo, Sulu, killing two people and wounding 27 others, officials said. Most of the wounded were passersby and students who were on their way to school. For fear of more attacks, authorities have suspended classes in Jolo. And then hours later car bomb exploded near the port of Iligan City wounded at least 11, including nine civilians and two soldiers. According to witnesses, moments before the explosion, the car with the bomb managed to park near the army jeep from the Philippine Army Light-Armor Division.

Simala in Cebu

Have you ever heard about the miraculous virgin Mary of Simala in Cebu? I have heard about this place in some of my friends and they said I should visit there when i will go back there. So as i planned to have my CFO (Commission of Filipino Overseas) interview as requirement to change status and name in my passport soon in Cebu City, I also want to see the said place. I am checking here online about the place and is this is what i found from Inquirer Net - In south Cebu, thousands of Cebuanos and other visitors from far and wide, climb up a hill to the Mother Mary Shrine in Simala, Sibonga town, bringing their faith and petitions for cures and other divine aid.
Each year, the crowd of devotees and first-time pilgrims seems to grow bigger.
January 1 is marked in the Christian calendar worldwide as a solemnity in honor of Mary as the mother of God, a day of obligation for Catholics to attend Mass.
At the Mother Mary Shrine in upper Lindogon in Barangay (village) Simala, Sibonga town, 48 kilometers south of Cebu City, devotees come by truckloads to be there every 13th of the month to hear Mass at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. or during the weekends at 3 p.m.
The shrine became “famous” after word spread that the image of the Virgin Mary was seen “shedding tears of blood,” a phenomenon that lacks scientific or official church validation but nevertheless draws more people to the area.
Driving to Simala shrine by private car from Cebu City means two to three hours on the road, barring heavy traffic in the outlying towns. Public buses ply the south Cebu route but one would have to get off a corner of the national road to reach upper Lindogon and hail a motorcab or a habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) for P20 to take you to the shrine about four kilometers up the mountains.
At the site, one has to cross a foot bridge and walk up a concrete pathway to reach the church, an imposing concrete structure at the top of the mountain. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the peak, which offers a breathtaking view of green slopes and fresh air.
The Marian monks who maintain the shrine have also landscaped the area, which has a mini falls that cascades down a small pool and well-tended gardens.
Signboards warn people that picking the flowers would be like “stealing from Mother Mary”. Families can have picnics and meals in cottages built for visitors. Children like to throw coins in a wishing well which features a large bell. Carenderias outside the gates of the shrine are proof of the steady volume of visitors in Simala.
Those who grumble about the distance are quickly shamed by the sight of elderly men and women on wheelchairs and crutches who go there to hear Mass and line up to kiss the image of Mary. These senior citizens don veils on their heads while praying, the same one Mary wore when she “shed tears of blood.”
While the church exterior is imposing, the interior is clearly a work in progress. The floor doesn’t have tiles and the church is not completely roofed. The hall is filled with wooden pews that look up to an elevated makeshift altar, where the statue of Mary is visible. Scaffoldings around the makeshift altar show work still being done on the ceiling. The rest of the church has no ceiling yet, which makes it humid inside, eased only by the breeze that wafts inside the tall windows on each side of the church.
A major purpose of visitors and devotees who go to Simala is to offer their petitions. Blank sheets of paper and pens on which to write their intentions are prepared by the monks for one to drop in a box at the right side of the glass-encased Marian image. Thank you letters are dropped in a box to her left side.
Visitors in lone queues walk barefoot to the statue. Since the area is considered sacred ground, shoes and footwear have to be removed and modesty is part of the dress code. Wearing of shorts, body-hugging blouses or sleeveless shirts is not allowed. Visitors who come dressed in this attire are asked to cover up with sarongs or malongs, prepared by the monks at the entrance.
In front of the Marian image, one is given only a few minutes to either kiss or say a short prayer, so as not to hold up the line.
Two other lines lead to a display of veils similar to the one the Marian image was wearing on the day believers said the “Birhen sa Simala” “shed” tears of blood.
On one display, the veil is placed on a low altar, where one can kneel and place the veil on one’s head while praying. The other one is placed on another statue of Mary. To view this, devotees have to stand within the folds of the veil and hold on to the hands of Mary while praying.
The path leading to both veils is lined with wooden cabinets where written petitions and thank you letters from as far as the United States and other countries are posted. Most petitions ask for a divine cure for ailments of the seeker or a family member’s. Several petitions were made by students seeking to pass the Bar or board examinations. Others seek help in finding jobs abroad.
In another cabinet, thank you letters are laid out, full of gratitude to Mary for answered prayers. While waiting for the line to move, reading the letters is an engaging past time. One woman sent a package containing her nursing uniform, her offering of thanks to Mary for passing the nursing licensure examination.
Further on is a cabinet crammed with wheelchairs and crutches offered by those who were cured of their ailments. The sight is a moving, modern day wonder, echoing Bible stories about the sick and lame who were able to walk again or were freed from their maladies by Jesus Christ.

The Act of the Declaration of Independence was prepared, written, and read by Senior Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista in Spanish. The Declaration was signed by ninety-eight people, among them an American army officer who witnessed the proclamation. The final paragraph states that there was a "stranger" (stranger in English translation — etranger in the original Spanish, possibly meaning foreigner) who attended the proceedings, Mr. L. M. Johnson, described as "a citizen of the U.S.A, a Coronel of Artillery". The proclamation of Philippine independence was, however, promulgated on the 1st of August, when many towns had already been organized under the rules laid down by the Dictatorial Government of General Aguinaldo.
Later at Malolos, Bulacan, the June 12 proclamation was modified upon the insistence of Apolinario Mabini who objected to that the original proclamation essentially placed the Philippines under the protection of the United States.
The Philippine Declaration of Independence occurred on June 12, 1898 in Cavite el Viejo (now Kawit), Cavite, Philippines. With the public reading of the Act of the Declaration of Independence, Filipino revolutionary forces under General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from the colonial rule of Spain, which had been recently defeated at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War.
The declaration, however, was not recognized by the United States or Spain. The Spanish government later ceded the Philippines to the United States in the 1898 Treaty of Paris that ended the Spanish-American War.
The United States recognized Philippine independence on July 4, 1946 in the Treaty of Manila. July 4 was observed in the Philippines as Independence Day until August 4, 1964 when, upon the advice of historians and the urging of nationalists, President Diosdado Macapagal signed into law Republic Act No. 4166 designating June 12 as the country's Independence Day. June 12 had previously been observed as Flag Day.

Symptoms range from a mild fever, to incapacitating high fever, with severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, and rash. There are no specific antiviral medicines for dengue. It is important to maintain hydration. Use of acetylsalicylic acid (e.g. aspirin) and non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. Ibuprofen) is not recommended.
Dengue haemorrhagic fever (fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, bleeding) is a potentially lethal complication, affecting mainly children. Early clinical diagnosis and careful clinical management by experienced physicians and nurses increase survival of patients.

Humba is one of the dishes that we can always see in the table during Philippine fiestas and any other occassions. For thos who want to try cook Humba, here is the exact ingredients and cooking procedures from del monte page.

Ingredients :
1 kilo Pork Pigue (Pork Ham), cut to serving pieces4 cloves garlic, minced1 cup water2 tablespoons brown sugar1 teaspoon salt1/2 cup vinegar1 sprig of oregano1 bay leaf2 Star Anise (optional but I love the star anise twist to the Humba flavor)1 teaspoon pepper corn
3 tablespoons tausi or salted black beans
1/2 cup of banana blossoms (for a nice decorative touch)

Directions:
1. Sear the pork cubes in the pan until the sugar has caramelized with the pork. Add garlic and black beans and mix well.
2. Add the remaining ingredients (like vinegar, soy sauce, oregano, bay leaf, and salt ) except banana blossoms together until the pork is tender. It may take 30 minutes or so to make the pork tender so just add a little more water when sauce appears to dry up.
3. Halfway through the cooking, add banana blossoms and continue cooking until tender.
4. Arrange on a platter. Serve hot.

Time runs fast! Now the summer break for student is almost over. The start of class will begin again! You want to know more about the education in the Philippines? The school year in the Philippines starts in June of one year and ends in March of the next, with a two-month summer break for April and May, one week of semestral break (the last week of October), and a week or two of Christmas break.
Based on Wikipedia : Filipino children enter public school at about age four, starting from Nursery up to Kindergarten At about seven years of age, children enter a primary school (6 to 7 years). This is followed by secondary school (4 years). Students then sit for the College Entrance Examinations (CEE), after which they enter collegiate school (3 to 5 years). Other types of schools do exist, such as Private schools, Preparatory schools, International schools, Laboratory High Schools and Science High Schools. Also, several nationalities, such as the Chinese, British, Americans, and the Japanese also have their own schools.
Primary school is also called Elementary school. It consists of six levels, with some schools adding an additional level (level 7). The levels are grouped into two primary subdivisions, Primary-level, which includes the first three levels, and Intermediate-level, which includes the last three levels.
Primary education in the Philippines covers a wide curriculum. The core subjects (major subjects) include Mathematics, Sciences, English, Filipino (the Filipino language), and Makabayan (Social Studies, Livelihood Education, Values). Other subjects include Music, Arts, and Physical Education. Starting at the third level, Science becomes an integral part of the core subjects. On December 2007, Philippine president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo announced that Spanish is to make a return as a mandatory subject in all Filipino schools starting in 2008. Today is Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion. Today, we enter into a solemn period of meditation on the Paschal Mystery of Jesus Christ. Palm Sunday, commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday is marked by the distribution of palm leaves (often tied into crosses) to the assembled worshipers. The difficulty of procuring palms for that day's ceremonies in unfavorable climates for palms led to the substitution of boughs of box, yew, willow or other native trees. The Sunday was often designated by the names of these trees, as Yew Sunday or by the general term Branch Sunday.

According to the Gospels, before entering Jerusalem, Jesus was staying at Bethany and Bethphage, and the Gospel of John adds that he had dinner with Lazarus, and his sisters Mary and Martha. While there, Jesus is described by the Synoptic Gospels as sending two unnamed disciples to the village over against them, in order to retrieve a donkey that had been tied up but never been ridden, and to say, if questioned, that the donkey was needed by the Lord but would be returned in a short period of time. Jesus then rode the donkey into Jerusalem, with the Synoptics adding that the disciples had first put their cloaks on it, so as to make it more comfortable. Lechón is the Spanish word for suckling pig. In the Philippines, it connotes a whole roasted pig, litsong baboy. Chicken and beef are also popular. The process of lechón involves the whole pig/piglet, chicken, or cattle/calf being slowly roasted over charcoal. Lechón is often cooked during national festivities (known as fiestas), the holiday season, and other special occasions such as weddings, graduations, birthdays and baptisms, or family get-togethers. The lechón is usually the highlight and the most popular dish of these events. It is usually served with a liver-based sauce. The typical Filipino method of roasting involves placing the pig on a spit and roasting it over charcoals while wiping the skin with a brush made out of leaves drenched in water and the pig's own fat. This makes the skin "pop" and become crunchy. The term "lechón" is also now used to refer to meat cooked on a spit (often whole) such as "litsong baka" (beef) and "litsong manok" (chicken). In fact, there are numerous brands of litsong manok stalls found scattered in the metropolis.
